New Striders, New projects
As Short Term Coordinator (STC) Pipe kept receiving Striders! and last October we received, Emily! a Strider from Bulgaria sent by the Latin Link office in Switzerland. We are so happy to have her here! She is the first Bulgarian working with Latin Link in Colombian and the first Strider in working with a project that we discover months ago called: "Fundación Buena Semilla".
This project is located in "Egipto" one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Bogotá. Buena Semilla works from 12 years ago as a children centre who help the kids of the community with homework but as well feed them and disciple them in 2 shifts, morning (from 8am til 12 noon) and afternoon (from 1pm til 3:30 pm).
This neighbourhood has a very bad reputation, because for generations it has been a place of local drug-trafficking and high and very violent gang activity, but darkness is just the absence of light. So Elias, the Leader of the project has been seeing the results of God´s work in 12% of the kids that attend the project, breaking the circles of poverty in their families.
Now, if you see a map, you will notice how far Colombia is from Bulgaria, and you could thing that those 2 countries have nothing in common. But meeting Emily meant meeting her culture and the many similarities between our cultures, it was a pleasant surprise!, and Emily is a lovely woman anyway! So please pray for her and her project as she adjust to the culture and the rutines here in Bogotá!
