A Messenger of Light

It was week 20 of Abi´s pregnancy. We schedule a regular scan for our baby a Monday 2:00 pm.

Among all the new rules and protocols that the health system has been applying in here, one of them is that if you go to a clinic or hospital, you have to go alone. No companions are allowed. So, that Monday, Pipe´s parents drop Abi out of their car in front of the health centre for the scan and waited patiently for her inside the car, nearby.

Because of this situation Pipe and Abi agreed that she will ask the doctor to check and chat through with her all the details about the baby´s health but keep quiet the information about the gender of the baby. She asked him to write in the official results the gender of the baby for us, at home, open the results and know if our baby was a girl or a boy with the printed results in our hands and our parents present via zoom.

Before letting you know what happened next we need to tell you the context. So let's go back on time a bit.

When we started to tell other people about our pregnancy in April, middle of quarantine, we heard repeatedly that sharing this brought hope to them and it was a sign of God bringing hope to humanity in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak and all the stress and anxiety that the virus caused.

During the last 6 months God has been speaking to us about the light that He put in us and that we could share it to all the world. Even before the birth, our baby is bringing a reason to keep going in the midst of our difficulties.

So we did the same that we did with Chloe. We prayed for God to reveal us something about our baby and those themes of Hope were coming up again.

Coming back to the scan, we had lunch together, we met in the house of one of Pipe´s best friends (We were in a break of one of the few 2 weeks quarantine isolation period imposed in our city, so we make the most of it.) and they put the answer in one of 6 inflated balloons.

So one by one, we were popping the balloons out until we found out. This is the moment when we realize that we are expecting a Girl!!! She is called Gabriela Zia, a messenger of Light!

Look abi´s reaction of the result of the scan!!!!!

In the scan they confirm that Gabriela is very healthy and all the test are normal.

Where is she going to be born?

Due to closed borders, visa offices closed and the uncertainty of the future we decided that we are going to give birth to Gabriela here in Bogotá, so now, we are planning the details of clinics, doctors, test and all the necessary to have a safe but lovely experience bringing Gabriela home!

The possible dates for her birth are between the 8th and the 12th of November! very soon! so we would really appreciate your prayers for perfect timing, doctors, nurses and a completely natural birth if possible.

In few days we will post a video about further plans of coming back England for Gabriela to meet all of you with more detail!! At some stage we were a bit disappointed to not be able to travel before the birth but we know that God is in control and it is a chance for Pipe´s parents to see Gabi as a new born! They are thrilled with the idea, of course and they are incredibly supportive.
